Des Taylor

Des Taylor has a passion for people, desiring to see them reach their fullest potential. Born in Seville, Spain, Des spent her formative years in the Kentucky Derby Region of Shelby County, KY, and the Historic Selma, Alabama, the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement. Des has worked as a journalist/reporter for the State of Alabama's oldest and historic newspaper The Selma Times-Journal, interviewing foot soldiers/leaders of the Civil Rights Movement as well as municipal, state and national public figures, dignitaries, and celebrities. Her favorite writings include those which allow her to tell the stories of the unsung heroes that inspire, empower, and impact communities. Having professional experience in Public Relations & Marketing, Des has also worked in Higher Education, for a nonprofit law firm, and in television advertising for a Fox affiliate. With a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Auburn University-Montgomery (AL) and a Master of Science in Strategic Communication from Troy University, Des is a lifetime member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society. She has won awards with the Alabama Press Association, is published by United Press International (UPI), and Google News. Additionally, her work has been featured in various print and online publications. Des enjoys reading the Bible, discussing social justice issues and politics, traveling, watching YouTube and spending time with her family.
