Ready for a wild ride?
Cyndi Perkins writes women’s adventure and empowerment fiction about bold, quirky women who are done waiting for permission to live. Her stories blend women’s fiction and literary fiction with grit, heart, humor, and hard-earned wisdom, following heroines who are figuring out what truly matters on their own terms, often later in life.
An award-winning journalist and former small-town newspaper editor, Cyndi walked away from the newsroom to live aboard a sailboat for four years. Along the way, she completed two 6,000+ mile circumnavigations of America’s Great Loop aboard the sailing vessel Chip Ahoy, traveling the eastern United States by river, lock, lake, and sea. Her real-life adventures have appeared in Cruising World, Latitudes & Attitudes, Good Old Boat, PassageMaker, Southwinds, and Northern Breezes.
Her debut novel, More Than You Think You Know, is a travel-driven coming-of-rage novel and women’s adventure story set against the wild waterways of America's Great Loop between Lake Michigan and Mobile Bay in 2006. Inspired by the unforgettable women she met along the way, the book explores reinvention, friendship, risk, and the courage it takes to rewrite your own story.
When Cyndi’s not writing feature stories and long-form nonfiction in the higher ed space and strategizing content creation as an assistant director of communications, she’s plotting her next novel—focusing on the rise of a wellness guru in the Florida Keys and the threat to her empire that could destroy it all.
