MAX HOBBY grew up on a working ranch reading Louis L'Amour, Zane Grey, Edgar Rice Burroughs and classics, served in the US Army, worked construction in US and Canadian oil fields, fished commercially in Alaska and the South Pacific, and drove commercially throughout North America. Building log cabins, A-frames, adobe and rammed earth homes for friends was a labor of love.
Max dabbled in writing over the years and in the late ‘80s started to seriously pen manuscripts for novels, wrote poetry and paints in oils and pastels. He worked in clays, created tile mosaics for table tops and wall hangings. One of his sketches adorns a mid ‘70s Kodiak, Alaska cookbook.
