Jay Hawk

Jay Hawk is part of a husband and wife authorship team with his wife Julie and each of them have worked professionally in the financial markets with more than 40 years of trading experience among them. Together, they write books, trade forex online for their own account and others, mentor traders, and have worked actively as freelance writers specializing in financial topics for over a decade.

Jay’s professional trading experience was focused largely on exchange floor trading activities in contrast to Julie’s highly professional and elite banking role in the Interbank foreign exchange market. After growing up in Chicago, Jay began working in the financial markets on the Chicago Board Options Exchange just a few years after the exchange was founded.

In addition to working his way up to holding a seat and operating as a market maker on several options exchanges in Chicago and San Francisco, Jay also ran a retail stock brokerage desk and managed funds for a number of large institutional investors that he traded profitably on a discretionary basis. Jay later took a position on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange where he helped start up and actively traded in the first listed forex currency futures options. He eventually moved to the West Coast to start trading on the Pacific Options Exchange, where he focused on trading stock options and the underlying stocks. In addition to trading currency futures and options, Jay also has exchange floor experience in trading stock index and commodity futures, as well as their corresponding options.

For her part, Julie's professional background includes working for twelve years as an Interbank dealer in the forex trading rooms of major international banks in New York City, London and San Francisco, eventually working her way up to the vice president level. Her financial career began after completing her scientific research degree and working as a business systems analyst for a major investment bank where she became qualified as a Series 7 Registered Representative and was thoroughly trained in all major financial products. She also attended the well-known O’Connell and Piper options training course in Chicago where she learned professional option risk management techniques.

In her capacity as a banking executive, Julie was personally involved in educating, providing customized foreign exchange hedging and risk taking strategies, meeting with other corporate executives, and handling large scale foreign exchange transactions for high-profile banking clients including large corporations, fund managers and high net worth individuals. She also traded substantial portfolios of forex options, spot and futures positions for her employers as a currency options risk manager, including exotic options like binary, barrier, average rate and basket options. She even received a notable award for her creativity, teamwork and profitability in executing unusual and highly profitable derivatives transactions.

During that time, Julie also developed world-class expertise in technical analysis, including Elliott Wave Theory, and she was involved in initiating research into automated trading and trading signal systems. She also joined the San Francisco Writers' Guild and regularly wrote trade strategies, educational material, market commentary, foreign exchange newsletters, reports, articles and press releases. In addition, Julie was interviewed for various financial markets magazines and for news wires such as REUTERS in her professional capacity as a foreign exchange expert.

After both independently retiring from trading as relatively wealthy people, Jay and Julie met up, fell love and got married to raise a child together just after the new millennium dawned. They moved to Mexico to semi-retire near the beach and operate an Internet-based business together, but soon discovered that the foreign exchange market had opened up to retail traders via online forex brokers. This incredible opportunity seemed too tempting for these seasoned traders to ignore!

They also observed a demand for educational forex material to be provided to retail traders via the Internet, and that the quality of existing written content available online was rather poor. That led them to start a new career together as freelance writers specializing in writing about the forex and other financial markets using their professional background and expertise. This eventually resulted in them co-founding TheFXperts to provide clients with expertly-written financial content, mentoring and financial consulting.

Jay and Julie are very pleased to present their books on trading and market analysis to the public that are now available on Amazon and Kindle.
