Maya Angelou said...“Making a decision to write was a lot like deciding to jump into a frozen lake.”
CJ Murphy agrees with her. She was born in North Central West Virginia and has spent her adult life in the emergency services. She credits her mother and grandfather with a love of reading and her better half with her love of writing.
"My mother read to me in the womb and continued long after I took my first breath. I've come to believe that to be a good writer, you have to be a great reader."
Her first book,l 'frame by frame' published by Desert Palm Press, was born of four words- "Write me a story." It took a Goldie award for debut novel at the 2018 GCLS conference and most recently a Rainbow award for debut novel. Her latest novels revolve around the Five Points Series and Sheriff Chance Fitzsimmons. Based in a West Virginia mountain county, this action-adventure series draws from CJ's career in the fire service and the 911 world of her wife.
CJ lives with her family on a few hundred acres of woodlands in the mountains and spends her days working in service to the public.
