Jonathon Arndt has been writing poetry since the age of 16, and it had often been his goal to become a published poet. As a lover of "old school" poetry, Jonathon writes with the style of his two favorite poets, William Blake and William Shakespeare. As a lover of writing, Jonathon is also a lover of thinking, constantly allowing his mind to run freely. As a man who struggles with anxiety and depression, poetry has often been his form of connecting the dreams within his mind to his realities on earth.
Jonathon is currently a student at Minnesota State University, Mankato where he is studying Communication Arts and Literature. With his degree, Jonathon will become a high school English teacher, and eventually would like to become a college professor. Jonathon volunteers with the Women's Center on campus as a male speaker. His goal, as a male speaker, is to break down the stigma that standing up for the rights of women cannot be done as a man. His attempt is to change the minds of the men on campus and include other men to fight for the rights of women.
As an avid reader of prose and poetry, Jonathon's favorite authors include: William Blake, William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Robert Louis Stevenson, Edgar Allan Poe, J.K Rowling, and Lord Byron. "The Top 500 Poems" anthology edited by William Harmon was given to Jonathon by his mother as a high school graduation gift. This book allowed Jonathon to submerge himself in the words of the all-time great poets. It is a book Jonathon has often referred to as "the poet's Bible".
Besides his love for poetry and prose, Jonathon also loves art, philosophy, inventors and their inventions, astronomy, and history. The minds of Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Leonardo da Vinci, and Isaac Newton intrigue Jonathon greatly.
