I am a teacher in Te Whanganui-ā-tara, Aotearoa (Wellington, New Zealand), who started writing stories for my students. I moved on to poetry, and that is how my first book started.

My favourite passage from my book...

"Shrouded by the cold winter mist, the surrounding hills hugged the valley in an endless embrace, as if to keep warm. One day, a single long strand of fog snaked its way down the valley ridges, slithering closer to the centre of the swamp. The warmth and shelter of the valley had attracted this nebulous creature. It had found a home."

As I crested the Wainuiomata hill, it was like moving into another season. In the middle of winter, fog would often boil over the rim of the hills like a cauldron. It was beautiful.
