Rahim B Kanani

Rahim B. Kanani is a global authority on leadership and management in luxury hospitality and the author of three books on how the world's finest hoteliers and chefs lead. His latest, The Luxury of Attention: What the World's Greatest Hoteliers and Chefs Know About Leadership (2026), draws on his interviews with eighty of the most celebrated hoteliers and chefs across five continents, from the general managers of the Savoy, the Plaza, Four Seasons Florence and Rosewood Hong Kong to chefs including Eric Ripert, José Andrés, Joan Roca and the late Anthony Bourdain. Hubert Joly, former CEO of Best Buy, called it "a master class in leadership, persistence, and creativity."

The book rests on a single conviction: the greatest hoteliers and the greatest chefs practice the same craft, the discipline of human attention applied to other human beings, and what they have always known is what the rest of the world is now learning to call luxury.

It builds on his two volumes of A Wealth of Insight. The first, on the world's best luxury hoteliers (2018), was called "an impressive, long-overdue publication of this nature and magnitude" by Dr. Dimitrios Diamantis of Les Roches and is used by leading hospitality schools. The second, on the world's best chefs (2019), profiled nearly forty-five culinary icons holding close to one hundred Michelin stars among them; Ferran Adrià of elBulli wrote the foreword and hailed it as "the first-ever comprehensive and authentic exploration of originality in contemporary cuisine."

Beyond hospitality, Kanani has interviewed more than 600 leaders across business, politics and the arts for major media, including Justin Trudeau, Tony Blair, Michael Bloomberg, Jeff Skoll, Alicia Keys, Madonna and James Cameron.
