R. E. Markland II

Ron Markland grew up in Missouri and upon his graduation from Washington University in St. Louis with a B.S.E.E. degree, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army Security Agency (Military Intelligence) Branch of the US Army. This resulted in his assignment to many different postings, the last being the 52nd US Army Security Agency Special Operations Command. After serving his military commitment he returned to a 30 year stint in the family electrical construction business.

Ron has worked in private practice as a Professional Engineer and has many varied experiences with the Department of the Army, Department of Labor, and Department of Commerce.

Ron and his wife have relocated many times since the mid 1990’s and have lived in Raleigh North Carolina, Waldorf Maryland, Mount Vernon Virginia, Ballwin, Chesterfield, Des Peres, and Town and Country Missouri, and The Villages Florida. Having lived in eleven different homes in the last twenty-six years he and his wife are very skilled at packing and unpacking.

While living in The Villages Florida he became very involved in The True Crime Book Club, and also found much enjoyment in the art of watercolor painting. His skills as a golfer need a little polishing, but he has found that it is a very enjoyable pastime.

While involved in the True Crime Book Club of The Villages he was haunted by the memories of the Beltway Sniper Murders, one of which he was very near earlier in that day. Using the facts from the Beltway Sniper Murders, and extrapolating them forward to a time where terrorist attacks somewhere in the world are almost a daily occurrence he toyed with that scenario. The result of that has made "The 23rd Day" a reality when it was published in June, 2019.

Ron's second book was in as a co-author with Tom Birkenmeier, the title being "The Sweethearts Club", originally published in January 2021. When a new poker club is started in "The Hamlets", an upscale retirement community the new members think it will be all about cigars, drinking and poker. WRONG! However you might enjoy finding out 24 ywas to "off" your spouse, and go undetected, among other matters.

Ron's third book published on Amazon mid October 2021 is "The diLingo Affair. This story begins where "The Sweethearts Club" ends. When a friend's death leaves "Liam" as executor and sole heir of a very large estate he discovers there is one rather large issue. He has 120 days to close out the estate he discovers the estate was an old world bankiing family whicfh catered to dark money deposits, originally placed by pirates during the Golden Age of Piracy. Should he not succeed in returning these funds to the heirs of the original depositors, there is a penalty which is death! This returning of funds requires, no mail, no trail, no jail, and no bail.

in Decenber 2022 Ron's latest book, OPERATION GREEN SKIES was published. The main charecters come from those in The 23rd Day. When an attempt by Afghani terrorists to negotiate release of Guantanamo prisoners goes unheeded by "America" those terrorist develop a plan to make "America" severely regret that decision. Their plan involves aerial fireworks, Radioactive Dispersal Devices, and general mayhem. However, their perfect plan develops a minor setback!
