Joyce S. Isaacson is a passionate writer with a lifelong love for fantasy, the paranormal, and rock and roll. She has been happily married for over 30 years, is a proud mother to one son, and shares her home with her spirited cat, Taylor — lovingly referred to as “the baby.”
Her writing journey began in grade school when she won a poetry contest, igniting a creative spark that never faded. In high school, she helped produce the school newspaper, formatting pages and interviewing local rock musicians — blending her love of storytelling and music from an early age.
Joyce spent ten years working in the Editorial Department of the Chicago Tribune, where she honed valuable skills in both journalism and art. Today, she continues to write, experiment with new recipes, and connect with a vibrant community of over 1,000 readers through her active blog.
Her novel Wish You Were Here: A Rock Fantasy was born from a personal moment of musical discovery. In 2013, while helping her husband organize music for his internet radio station, she stumbled upon The Best of Badfinger. One listen to “Rock of All Ages” was all it took. Moved by the band’s history — including the tragic suicides of two members following years of exploitation — she joined a fan group on Facebook, where she found a shared sense of heartbreak and admiration.
Joyce responded in the only way she knew how: by writing. What began as comforting posts to fellow fans soon evolved into imaginative segments on her growing Badfinger tribute page. The response was overwhelmingly positive. Encouraged by her readers, Joyce committed to shaping those segments into a full-length story.
The result is Wish You Were Here: A Rock Fantasy — a deeply emotional, musically charged exploration of loss, redemption, and the enduring power of connection. It is her second novel and a heartfelt tribute to the band that inspired it.
Joyce remains dedicated to keeping the spirit of Badfinger alive through her storytelling — always writing from the heart and inviting others to feel, dream, and remember alongside her.
