Timothy Robbins

I grew up in the 60s and 70s in a town of 10,000 in southern Indiana. I was a devout little Methodist until puberty when other religions started to interest me. Now I'd say I'm an agnostic who has been profoundly influenced by the gentle side of Christianity.

Also with puberty came the realization that I'm gay. Thanks to supportive parents and friends, an innate inclination to like myself and a stubborn nature, self-acceptance was no struggle at all.

My primary interests have always been music, art, literature and language. I have a B.A. in French and an M.A. in applied linguistics. I've been teaching ESL to adults for over twenty-five years and have loved practically every minute of it. I live in Wisconsin with my husband of twenty years.

I have been a regular contributor to Hanging Loose since 1978. My work has also appeared in The James White Review, Long Shot, Three New Poets, Main Street Rag, Tipton Poetry Review, Off the Coast, Slant, Pinyon, Two Thirds North, Cactus Heart, Sow's Ear Review, Bayou Magazine, Saranac Review, Tishman Review, Rock and Sling, Wisconsin Review, American Chordata, Adelaide Literary Magazine, Illuminations, The Opiate, U.S. Poets 1,Lalitamba, Conch River Review, Foliate Oak, Taj Mahal, Delmarva Review, Cholla Needles, The Big Window Review, E*ratio, and others.
