Daibhidh Eyre

David Daibhidh Eyre was born in North Lanarkshire in 1972. He started learning Gaelic at Edinburgh University. Some of his poems have appeared in Gutter, An Guth, Irish Pages, Northwords Now, Poetry Scotland, Steall, The Poets' Republic, and Tuath. In 2019 his poem 'Claidheamh mo sheanair' won the Gaelic prize in the Wigtown Poetry Competition. He was Poet in Residence at the StAnza Poetry Festival 2018, with support from The Edwin Morgan Trust. In 2015 his first short novel ‘Glainne’ was published by Sandstone Press and his first novel ‘Cailèideascop’ was published by Luath Press in 2017, both with support from the Gaelic Books Council. In 2013 his poem ‘Lucozade’ was shortlisted for the Irish / Gaelic poetry competition Comórtas Filíochta an Choirnéil Eoghain Uí Néill. For most of his adult life, he earned his living as a journalist and communications professional, but he's now studying to be a Gaelic Medium primary school teacher.
