Matti Leisola

Matti Leisola was born in Lahti Finland in 1947. He married his teen-age love in 1970 and they have four children and seven grandchildren. Leisola studied biotechnology and has a degree of Doctor of Science in Technology (1979) from Helsinki University of Technology. Leisola spent seven years in Switzerland (1981-1988) where he obtained his Habilitation in 1988 from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in biotechnology and won the Latsis Prize ETH-Zürich. He is currently Professor Emeritus of Bioprocess Engineering at Aalto University, School of Chemical Technology. Leisola's scientific expertise is in microbial and enzyme technology.
