I've managed to survive being shot twice and provide this unique experience in my writing. These shootings, along with the unsolved gay bashing murder of my best friend form the basis of my first novel “Murder, Romance and Two Shootings, out now.

Recently, I shared the events of my son's bris in "Queer Families: An LGBTQ+ True Stories Anthology."

I have worked professionally as a reporter and editor for newspapers and websites for 20 years. I have a Master’s in Journalism from the University of Kansas. I have shared my viewpoints of the Kirkwood Missouri City Council shooting with the New York Times, Newsweek, MSN and local media outlets in St. Louis. I am still sought out from national media for my viewpoints when it comes to mass shootings and violence.
