Amani Bell

I am currently Senior Lecturer, Educational Innovation at the University of Sydney, where I lead programs to enhance student experience and success, primarily via developing the capacity of academic and professional staff.

My research takes a participatory approach to exploring the challenges and opportunities of higher education. Some of my research focuses on building the teaching capacity of academics, via peer observation, critical reflection and mentoring. Another strand of my research focuses on students and staff working in partnership to enhance university education - an area of growing momentum in Australia and internationally. I'm very interested in widening participation in higher education, and the experiences of first generation students.

Alongside research, I also write more practice-based pieces that translate higher education research in a way that’s easy to understand and implement.
