David R Oakes

DAVID OAKES has been a high school computer science teacher and football coach, an enlisted sailor, and active duty Naval Intelligence Officer for 12 years before joining the Navy Reserves. He retired as a Commander after nearly 22 years of service. David has worked as a contractor for NASA for the past 18 years.

He watched and read about the Apollo moon missions growing up and has never lost the wonder of space travel. His favorite authors include Robert Heinlein, James Michener and Andy Weir. He is a terrible space model enthusiast, probably because he usually has a cold beer in one hand while building models.
