Chris Auer was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. She attended the University of Cincinnati to obtain a degree in nursing. During this time, she became interested in spiritual renewal. Since then, she has maintained an active faith, that includes prayer, service, and community building. She married Ron Auer over fifty years ago. They have four adult children and six grandchildren. They are her joy and bedrock. She enjoys gardening, her writing group (Our Lives with Words), as well as service on behalf of the local immigrant community. She is sustained by family, faith, and her spiritual companions.
Teetering, her most recent book, is a chronicle of her relationship with her sister who was affected by complex mental health struggles. This in turn, had a lifelong impact on Chris and her family of origin. Her previous books are about her encounters with mothers during her 42 years of working as a nurse and lactation consultant. She was honored to care for families from eighty countries who delivered babies at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Under One Sky recounts these stories. A Lullaby is a series of meditative reflections for healthcare professionals who continue to care for mothers and babies.
