Lovey Rhodes Smitham grew up and was schooled in Grand Saline, TX. Graduated 1953. It is not surprising that her first novels would be set there, in Van Zandt County, 1930 to 1938. An avid genealogist of family and local history she collected stories told and retold by generations of family, neighbors, and friends, as well as strangers and some simply passing through town. These stories inspired Lovey to write 'Old Sins Have Long Shadows', 'Madame's Premiere and Sideshow', 'Dough, Ray & Me, the Widow and Ray Webster', Rose Side Park, 'Ten Lizzies'' and the new 'Ice Tongs, A Weapon of Choice' followed by its sequel, 'The Haunting of Norman Gold' that is now available on Amazon.com, Lovey Smitham. Novels of fiction, six of them are set in Grand Saline, TX. The first book, 'Old Sins Have Long Shadows' has been revised into a 6 x 9 paperback and will be available in May 2020 as a 2nd. Edition.
