Matteo Astone

Matteo Astone is a scientist, a math and science teacher, a clown, and a lover of social circus and volunteer work. He loves when all these roles become tools for play and education—whether in a hospital, a foster home, a shantytown, or among street children in Italy and other corners of the world. From children, he has learned to marvel at small things and to dream of big ones. He believes in the unique power of stories for children to see the world with eyes that look beyond and to speak of great things with simple words, touching the hearts of both young and old.

Matteo writes to fascinate, inspire, and entertain, taking young readers on fantastical journeys filled with extraordinary adventures that, sometimes, also reflect a bit of ourselves.

Born in Padua, Italy, in 1987, he has worked as a volunteer in many countries around the world, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Thailand, Croatia, Georgia, Greece, and the Philippines, always bringing his red nose and his love for children wherever he goes. When he’s not writing, he loves meeting his readers in schools and libraries, immersing them in his stories. He lives between Italy and the United States, where he found the love that changed his life.
