Dear Reader,

Children's books are often written, not just to entertain, but to teach wise life lessons that are relevant no matter what age you are. This is what I have aimed to do with my children's stories, albeit subtly. The books are positive, wholesome and educative.

In addition to "Magic? Who Needs It!" for older children, I have written a trilogy of storybooks for younger children plus a Poem, featuring the adventures of Perry, a resourceful pygmy-possum, and his friend Perky, an adventurous quokka. The first two books were illustrated by acclaimed artist, Emma Stuart, and also combined into a single book titled “Perry and Perky’s Fun-Filled Adventures”. They are for sale in hardback, paperback and eBook. The third book in the series is a storybook with picture puzzles to solve and colour. The picture puzzles are by Diane Anchen who is known internationally for her creative picture puzzles in many languages. The cover was painted in watercolours by Wally Anchen. Diane and Wally are husband and wife artists. This book is available in paperback and eBook. My fourth book in the series is Perry and Perky the Olympians. This is a poem where the reader is the illustrator. It is available in paperback.

About me: I'm a former school teacher with a Master of Education degree and I'm currently tutoring students in maths and English after school hours. I expect to be doing this for as long as possible because I’m passionate about helping children to improve their school work and to improve their attitude towards it and themselves. I have also taught English to migrants on a voluntary basis.

Prior to writing children's stories, most of the writing I had done was related to my studies and work as a teacher. I did enter two caption writing competitions and won both, and while this wasn't story writing, it is evidence that I can be clear, concise and humorous.

About the desert rose photos in "Magic? Who Needs It!": These are photos I took of my own plants. Amazingly, a desert rose plant actually blossomed in the shape of an L ... my initial (see image above). I didn't prune the plant or do anything else to make this happen. Magic? :)

Happy reading.

Best wishes,

Lani Grace
