Chance Paladin lives in the Pacific Northwest between resistance-held city-states. He lives with his wonderful wife of 15 years, likes gardening and taking care of stray cats, and taking care of his rescued potted plants. He’s an amazing business analyst, and heads towards the worst projects while everyone else runs away. He’s seen every type of migraine doctor there is, most of them three times a piece, and finally found some new treatments that worked enough for him to function normal'ish.
He’s religious but not in the way most people are, preferring to be spiritual directly and privately, instead of dealing with the churches who usually have their own social and political baggage. He’s always helped people without ever asking anything in return. His friends would tell you that he’s a good guy, once you can understand what he’s trying to say.
He ended up finding a place to live in someone's back room. In a cruel twist of irony, he was able to land a job that he'd applied for before he lost his house within a month after. His fur babies are in his mind and heart every day. 95% of his stuff is still locked up in storage with nowhere for it to go.
Eventually after five long years, he was able to barely scrape up enough to get a house after the 'rona, before interest rates made houses unpurchasable. However all his resources were drained in a complex home loan/lender scam, in the process. So he's currently in the middle of nowhere working on his books, trying to survive, hoping still that his book series will bring people together in society's darkest hour.
These books are for Stoney, Daubo, Fuzz, Pill, Chloe, and Socky. I'm glad you found good homes, but it still rips my heart out every day I can't be with you. I only needed a few more weeks and we'd still be together.
