Dr. Antony Peter Mueller is a German professor of economics who has taught and done research at various universities in Europe, the United States, Latin America, and, over the past decade, a faculty member of the Federal University UFS in Brazil.
Antony P. Mueller was born in Bavaria, Germany, where he studied economics, politics, philosophy, and international business with various internships abroad including England and Spain. He gained his doctorate in economics summa cum laude from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU-UEN - Times Higher Education Global Ranking Position Top 200) and later the venia legendi.
He spent, in preparation of his master's thesis, an internship in the United States in 1978 at the Center for the Study of Public Choice (under the direction of James M. Buchanan, Nobel Prize 1986).
1989-1990 he was a Fulbright Scholar in the United States and served as an associate professor at Radford University, Virginia.
1994-1998 he was head of the department of economics at the University Erlangen-Nürnberg (Campus Erlangen).
From 1999 to 2003 he was CAPES / DAAD visiting professor in economics and international finance at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) in Florianópolis, Brazil, working in the undergraduate and graduate programs.
In 2004 and 2006 he spent internships as a visiting professor with teaching and research on the Austrian School at the Francisco Marroquin University (UFM) in Guatemala.
From 2003 to 2008 he was a researcher and professor of economics at University Caxias de Sul (UCS), where he worked at the MBA program in the areas of international business and participated in the institutionalization of the academic master's in administration.
Since 2008, he has been a tenured professor at the economics department of the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) with teaching assignments in macroeconomics, international economics, and monetary economics. He has also been a member of the academic master's program in economics and of the doctoral program in sociology where he served for several years up to 2023 as leader of the SOCITEC (society, science, and technology) research group.
The main areas of research of Antony P. Mueller are business cycle analysis, capital theory and international finance. He participates in several national and international research groups, particularly in the area of Austrian Economics. Antony Mueller is an associate scholar of the Ludwig von Mises Institute in the United States, a distinguished member of the Mises Brazil Institute and a senior fellow of the American Institute of Economic Research (AIER).
Antony Mueller has published several books and numerous scholarly articles. He is a prolific author of essays and commentaries covering a wide spectrum of socioeconomic and political issues. His original publications are mainly in English, German, and Portuguese, and have found many translations in other languages as well.
