Mick Davis

Mick Davis was brought up in Plymouth and Uxbridge before finding gainful employment with one of London's top criminal defence lawyers. Mick now works full-time researching and writing, mainly historical biography, archaeology and true crime as well as being a volunteer at Frome Museum, committee member of the Frome Society for Local Study and editor of its Yearbook.

Publications include, 'Of Mounds & Men' The Prehistoric Barrows of the Frome Area', featuring the drawings of Georgian antiquary Rev. John Skinner, Visitors Historic Britain, a guide to the historic sites of Somerset, the first biography of the sensational Victorian adventuress and fraudster Mrs Gordon Baillie as promoted by historian Lucy Worsley in her recent podcast, A-Z of Frome, a guide to Frome's more interesting features A Surfeit of Magnificence, The Trials and Tribulations of Sir Thomas Champneys of Orchardleigh, Bath Murders & Misdemeanours. A full scale atlas of the Frome area by Jeremiah Cruse from 1813 and a history of the English Prison Hulks 1600- 1868. There is a history of Weymouth pubs in preparation.
