Orlando St Clair-Charles

I am an artist and writer, because I love to share the world as it is through my eyes.

Throughout my life, home has been wherever I made it. I was born in London, grew up in Yorkshire and went to university in Edinburgh, before moving halfway around the world to China. Currently back in the UK, I am just about resisting the urge to wander off to yet another country. Being on the move makes me happy, but writing, drawing and painting make me feel at home in myself.

My first book is a small collection of poetry and thoughts, which amounts to a glimpse into my life and my view of the world over the last few years. I will be bringing out more extensive works of fiction in due course: a set of short stories is in the works and there will be a novel at some point.

I was not always confident enough to put my work before an audience and I worked in various sectors before coming to where I am now. Having worked in the wine industry, trained in law and worked as an English teacher in China, I have had a broad experience of people and life in general. People are some of my favourite subjects and it is the construction of characters that I really love to do in my prose work. In poetry, I tend towards observation.
