I have been married to a wonderful woman, Sharon, for a lot of years. (lol, easier than trying to remember!) I am 60 plus years young and have lived in Ohio my entire life. We have 4 children and numerous grandchildren.
I have been taking yearly fly-in fishing trips into the Canadian wilderness since the mid 1970's. We are dropped off by float plane and are the only people on the lake for a week with zero knowledge of what is happening in the outside world. That is how North Wind came to be. In 1997 when the pilot came to pick us up he informed us of the death of Princess Diana. That really struck me hard, and the questions, "What if we were never picked up? Would we know why?" overwhelmed me.
I have spent twenty years developing and writing North Wind. The personalities of many characters are based off of family and friends. I think this is one thing that makes North Wind so easy to relate to, I could imagine them doing and acting the way I wrote them in. The women are as strong and as determined as the men. You will follow along with both groups as they attempt to reach their final destination. The descriptions of the areas are imbedded in my mind from my many years of traveling North, you will feel as if you are right there with them. Thank you for considering reading. I hope you enjoy the adventure as much as I enjoyed writing it!
Steve Alten, New York Times best selling author of Meg and Undisclosed: “A fresh new voice in thriller fiction, Michael Hale’s North Wind is ripped from today’s headlines, visceral and compelling. Hale is the real deal!”
