Dr. David A. Wilderman, PT, DPT, MS, founder of Wilderman Physical Therapy, was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. After graduating from the University of Delaware, he went on to earn a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Arcadia University and a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Boston University.

Dr. Wilderman’s professional experience includes several start-up clinics in Baltimore, MD, Shrewsbury, PA, and Wilmington, DE. He was a partner in Shrewsbury Physical Therapy from 2000–2008, then left to open Wilderman and Associates Physical Therapy, PC, in Shrewsbury, PA, in 2009. He sold the practice in late 2011 to return to his home state of Delaware.

Dr. Wilderman’s specialties include:

• orthopaedic rehabilitation with a particular emphasis on neck, spine, and shoulder rehab

• sports medicine rehabilitation

• neurological rehabilitation

• chronic headache relief

• TMJ rehabilitation

• wellness and preventative programs

He has been an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) since 1984, as well as the orthopaedic, sports, and private-practice sections of the APTA.

Dr. Wilderman founded Wilderman Physical Therapy in order to practice in a setting that embodies his philosophy of treatment. He believes in the use of education, individualized attention, and client input to help his clients alleviate their pain and physical impairments. Receiving physical therapy at Wilderman Physical Therapy enhances the potential results following an injury or surgery, providing improved function, minimized disability, and less time away from work and leisure activities.

When Wilderman Physical Therapy was created, there was one goal in mind: to provide the ultimate care to clients by giving them superior value in terms of service. When most people research products and services, they generally look at three factors: cost, quality, and convenience. Oftentimes, individuals will sacrifice at least one of these factors in their decisions. The problem is, the current trend in health insurance is toward higher co-pays and deductibles. As a result, many patients are paying out of pocket for the majority of their care but are not getting the best value for their dollars.

Many of my clients have had prior attempts at treatment, whether from physical therapy, chiropractic, pain management (including painful epidural injections), massage therapy, acupuncture, or family physicians treating their symptoms conservatively with medication. But they were not completely satisfied with the outcomes, and still not back to their prior functional levels.

So how am I different?

For starters, you will spend one full hour with me, a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy. You will see no other support staff (or other patients, for that matter), nor will you perform repetitious exercises that you could do on your own at home. Your treatment will not be dictated by what your insurance company will or will not cover—this is one of the primary reasons I have chosen to be private-pay and not to accept insurance other than Medicare. I provide therapeutic outcomes that are in line with your goals to attain maximal success in getting you back to the activities you love. Bottom line—fewer visits (cost), higher standards of care (quality), and appointments only one or two times per week (convenience).
