Nancy Huxtable Mohr

Nancy Huxtable Mohr is the author of The Well (2018) and Mute Gospel, forthcoming from River Paw Press in 2027. Mute Gospel was a semifinalist for the 2026 Silent River Poetry Prize. Her poetry has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies, and she was shortlisted for the UK Environmental Poetry Prize in 2022.

A 9th generation member of a dairy-farming family in Upstate New York, Mohr retains a home on her family's land and now lives in Northern California. She graduated from Cornell University, has a California Teacher’s Credential, worked as a teacher, social worker, arts administrator. She taught poetry with California Poets in the Schools and at the Redwood City Women’s Jail. She has a lifelong commitment to arts organizations serving underprivileged youths as both an arts administrator and a volunteer. She took Independent Poetry Study with Eavan Boland at Stanford University 2015, is a member of the Community of Writers, and 2024 Bread Loaf Participant.
