David Manning

In addition to his seven currently available books, David Manning's short fiction and non-fiction has appeared in literary magazines, newspapers and multi-media venues. He has also given numerous readings of his work, mostly in New York.

Meanwhile, he and his late wife, dancer Suzanne White Manning, co-directed the Synergic Theater for nearly 20 years.

" … a brilliant integration of live dancers and shadowplay techniques. This breathtaking technical feat allowed visual and verbal metaphors to move pungently and effectively between the real and the imaginary, from personal experience to commentary on human behavior ... [Mr. Manning] is obviously not interested in neat conclusions; a layering of imagery makes his point.” Anna Kisselgoff, The New York Times (9/88)

Suffering from an over-active imagination, he has supported his creative affliction by working for educational, arts, cultural and media organizations in New York City; Barcelona, Spain; Durham, NC; and San Francisco. He currently resides in Durham, where he graduated from Duke University many, many years ago.
