Michael Carney

Mike Carney was born and raised in Boston, MA. In 1977 he began riding the bus to Lighthouse Baptist Church (then Baptist Temple), pastored by Bruce Turner. It was there in May of 1977 he received Christ as his Savior.

Under the preaching and ministry of Pastor Turner, Brother Carney grew in the Lord and felt called to the ministry. He graduated from Baptist Bible College East in 1984 & 1986 receiving undergraduate degrees. He also received his MA in Cross-Cultural Communication from Baptist Bible Graduate School of Theology.

In January 1993, seeking the Lord's will concerning a call to missions, he began working at the Lighthouse Children's Home of Kosciusko, MS. It was there he met his wife Lynne. Lynne was born and raised in a pastor’s home in Columbus, MS. Lynne was also seeking God's will to serve the Lord full time. They married in September 1993, and soon felt the burden for Hungary. They were presented as missionaries in September 1994 and arrived on the field of Hungary September 1995.

While in Hungary from 1995 – 2007, they started two churches and worked with another for a year. In March 2007 Brother Carney returned to Lighthouse Baptist Church of Holbrook, MA to pastor. He pastored the church from March 2007 to July 2015. In 2015 he returned to Hungary to continue the work. Lighthouse Baptist Church in Holbrook is now their sending church. The missions clearing house they are associated with is the Global Independent Baptist Missions of Lewisville, TX.
