Jan Ranft

Jan Ranft, born 1974, lives and works in Saarbrücken, Germany. His tales delve into the experiences of gay men. They explore encounters and loss, love, sex, friendship, and the quest for happiness. They are sometimes serious, sometimes humorous and fantastical, mostly drawn from life—raw, unvarnished, and occasionally uncomfortable.

Since 2012, he has published three books in Germany: “Himbeerjoghurt mit Sahne” (Raspberry Yogurt with Cream), Zitronenjoghurt mit Buttermilch” (Lemon Yogurt with Buttermilk), and most recently, in spring 2024, “Starkregen” (Heavy Rain).

In January 2025 he translated 52 of the best stories from all of his publications into English and published them in his book “YOGURT—hard-to-swallow gay short stories”.
