Beauty influencer, writer, and wellness advocate, Karen Sears is an Accredited Clinique Consultant and an Estee Lauder 5-Star Beauty Advisor. She has worked through significant changes in many aspects of her life, achieving a personal weight loss of 168 pounds in the past three years. Through her work in the beauty industry, she has often been touched and inspired by her clients, and this book embodies her belief that every woman can be beautiful, inside and out.
After spending twelve years at home and out of the workforce, Karen hired on as a beauty advisor for Estee Lauder at Macy’s. Previously, she had worked in a hospital ER as an emergency medical technician, and as an emergency communications dispatcher for an ambulance service. She loved working in the medical field, but was not at the point in life where she could devote the time to renewing her certifications and licenses. She had attended cosmetology school, however, and enjoyed learning a wide variety of beauty secrets and techniques. She felt a calling to pursue her interest, which led her to apply for a beauty advisor position, and the rest is history.
A devout workaholic, beauty has become Karen’s passion, and she is always focused on the topic: watching videos, reading books and blogs, learning about new products and trying them out, and keeping tabs on trends to give herself an edge in the beauty scene. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience to help other women get in touch with their own beauty.
From a full skincare consultation to a quick intro of a new lipstick shade, Karen says that every woman she meets is unique and beautiful: “I have met so many fascinating and wonderful people at my local beauty counter. One theme is consistent with my clients: they are all beautiful women, but many have difficulty seeing it and feeling it when they look in a mirror. I understand these clients, I relate to them deeply, because I feel the same way they do."
Karen’s work in the beauty field has taken her on a magical journey into a world of glamour and creativity. She combines writing, blogging, photography, and makeup into a unique montage of self-expression, and she enjoys sharing the knowledge she gains along the way with other women who are looking for ways to become more in touch with their own beauty.
Karen is now writing a second book on beauty and several inspirational/self-help books to be published in 2018 and early 2019. She hopes that through her writing, she can reach other women who are struggling with their mirror as she once did and help them to discover the many ways they can put their best face forward in day-to-day living.
“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.”
