Malachi Walker

What inspired Malachi to write this book:

I didn’t grow up thinking I was going to write a book, be an entrepreneur, or a YouTuber.

My main goal was to become the best soccer player on earth. But some unexpected things came up in my life and those things changed the plan. I had to find a new focus or I felt like I was going to self-destruct.

Here’s the story:

When I was eleven years old I was playing soccer, basketball, karate, and football. I was really into sports. I’d often win gold medals at karate competitions and my soccer team made it to the championship game many times—and we often won.

My family had just moved from Tennessee to Texas, which had been tough for me. I had to leave everything and I didn’t want to. I wasn’t liking Texas. But, I was REALLY looking forward to hitting soccer tryouts in Dallas, making a competitive team and getting back to “normal.” Spring rec season was wrapping up and there was only one week until summer. I couldn’t wait! I was in the middle of soccer tryouts for FC Dallas Select Teams. My knee had been hurting off and on over the last few months and was becoming aggravating the more I played. So, I went to the doctor and they discovered I had a condition called Osteochondritis (OCD). After having an MRI, the doctor said it was much worse than he thought. His prescription? Three months on crutches, then six months with a brace…then another MRI, followed by three more months with a brace.

WHAT?!!! I wasn't allowed to jump, walk normal, run or do any sports for the Summer and Fall seasons. The doctor said if it didn't heal in nine months I might have to have surgery—then that would be twelve more months plus the nine months! THAT'S 21 MONTHS! Really?! So I was going to miss two summers, two seasons, two…you get the idea! And here I was, in a new state, no sports team, no friends, and now no walking?! I hated the thought. Talk about a KNOCKDOWN! Talk about a SETBACK! I felt like someone threw me up against a wall, BAM & I was sliding down the wall in a heap...
