Ann Morgan

I am a long-time public-school teacher, with many years in grades K-4 and even more as an English Language teacher in K-8 and college. I've been fortunate enough to accumulate a few relevant Masters degrees, and to work as a teacher-trainer, curriculum writer and specialist, Big Publisher textbook writer-editor, and a language-learning consultant. My recent work via a Libray of Congress grant for the state of Maryland just won the PBS national award for Best Open Access Resource.

Until now, I've been writing for English Language Learners, but my latest book is for teachers with ELLs in their classrooms, but who don't have ELL training. I promise, no jargon, just good information about who these kids are, and how to help them be successful and happy in school. The book is full of true stories of ESOL students, relevant resources and links, good books to read to kids, writing strategies, data interpretation, project based learning ideas and more. Teachers, paraeducators, volunteers and anyone else who works with this population will find useful information here.

The goal with my books is to make information available to the Good Thinkers But Poor Producers, who stumble over reading and/or language, in a way that is not babyish but is engaging and memorably visual. Early readers, adults learning to read, English Language Learners, and special education students can all read (and enjoy!) my books.

I loved this work, and hope you do, too.
