David Cawthorpe

Dr. David Cawthorpe has studied biological mechanisms of learning, memory, and human development with one focus of bringing the lexicon of neuroscience and human adaptation into the field of psychiatry.

Dr. Cawthorpe's contributions to the field include numerous international presentations, papers, and books on human development. His bibliography includes his forays into the nature of consciousness with the publication of “Consciousness — Animal Electricity Revisited” and "The Biological Self: The Place of Attachment, Mental Representation, Memory, and Consciousness," which delve into the foundational aspects of identity and development from both biological and philosophical perspectives.

Throughout his career, Dr. Cawthorpe has presented his findings at major conferences, including the World Congress of Psychiatry and the International Conference on Child and Adolescent Psychopathology, where he has discussed the implications of adverse childhood experiences for lifespan development of complex multimorbidity, and presented innovative models for enhancing and optimizing mental health services.

Dr. Cawthorpe continues to influence the fields of developmental psychopathology, psychiatry, and neuroscience through his research and scholarly publications.
