Cora Darrah was an educator for over thirty years and enjoyed the challenge of working with children with special needs. After leaving the profession she loved, Cora began to write. Beginning with journaling, she then took her hand at writing short novels.
Her first book, Here We Go Joe, was an Amazon Best Seller in its first week and dared to explore how Alzheimer's impacted her own family. Cora journaled her personal experience with her father-in-law and was able to use researched based interventions effective for students with autism to assist him with making life changing decisions.
During the days when the country was shut down with Covid, Cora took a different path and wrote a contemporary novel about three women striving to discover themselves among the complex issues of today's world. Scattered Pieces is a book that most women can relate to as they seek their own inner peace.
Cora launched A Story of Durham: Told the Wright Way in September of 2023. This historical fiction is based on the life of her great descendent, Richard Harvey Wright. Richard was a very successful businessman and a founding father of Durham, North Carolina. Richard began his pursuit of success as a penniless orphan at the end of the Civil War. With nothing but a passion to succeed, Richard pushes forward through hardships and disappointments in order to build a massive estate.
After the release of A Story of Durham: Told the Wright Way, Cora turned her attention toward a man known in Durham as the Mayor of North Durham. Brodie Duke was known by many historians as a womanizer, alcoholic, and gambler. He was married four times, a major taboo of the times, as well as a businessman who made and lost numerous fortunes. After much research, Cora discovered a story behind this man that is both shocking and insightful.
Cora is a native of Durham, North Carolina and has called this her home for the majority of her life. She lives with her husband and French bull dog. She is a mother of two girls and a grandmother of four. When Cora isn’t blogging or writing, she spends time outside in her vegetable garden, playing tennis or walking her dog Vern.
