Muffy Mendoza has built a nation of impassioned moms as the Founder and CEO of Brown Mamas. Along that journey she has cultivated an array of expertise. Author, community developer and advocate, speaker and influencer, she is a highly adept entrepreneur and leader with a heart for the black mothering community. Her resume is a veritable list of who’s who including TEDx speaker, Essence Festival featured author, #63 on the Root 100s List of Most Influential African-Americans and Facebook Accelerator Program graduate. In addition, she is a monthly panelist on Talk Pittsburgh, a local talk show.
Her work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, CBS News, Pittsburgh Magazine and more.
Starting as a small group of fired up, African-American mothers, meeting in each other’s homes, growing into an online and offline membership of over 6600 mothers of color, Muffy has built a powerful nation of impassioned change-makers. Along this journey she has crafted a curriculum for Black moms, The Brown Mama Mindset, and produced a national showcase that amplifies the voices of Black mothers nationally, The Brown Mama Monologues.
Through the Brown Mamas journey, Muffy has cultivated a variety of transferable skills that have prepared her to offer her acumen in social media dominance, public speaking, entrepreneurship mastery and principle development to the masses, whether they are mothers or not. Adeptly managing many roles, Muffy is also a fully engaged mother of three sons and happily married wife of one awesome husband. She resides in Pittsburgh, PA.
