Deb Bird has performed many roles in her educational journey. She has taught Pre-K to 9th grade as well as worked as a Curriculum/Special Education Coordinator, Director of Education, Title I Coordinator, Reading Recovery and Literacy Coach. She loves reading with kids and helping them discover new adventures through books. She also enjoys helping teachers find ways to use books as mentor texts to guide their young authors. Thus the creation of 'In My Opinion', 'Maddie the Dreamer', and 'Home Sweet Home' of which was co-written with her niece, Maddie Healey, who is full of imagination and artistic talent.
Deb Bird is a literacy teacher and lives on a lake in Orono, Maine with her husband, Dean and their two cats, Ping and Jazz. She has a daughter, Alex and her husband Jason, her son, Zach and his wife Angie and she absolutely adores her four grandsons, Jayce, Jaxton, Cooper, and Wes. She loves to kayak, play tennis & pickleball, go jet skiing & boating, as well as cross country skiing during the long winter months in Maine.
