Mary’s first book was "Stranger In My Heart," a memoir about her father's heroics in the Far East in WW2. The book gained national and international press coverage and Mary has given numerous talks about it, from Women's Institute groups to literary festivals, a conference on Far East POWs and a class of school children in Hong Kong.
She has now written a novel based on the true story of her great aunt, Dora Metcalf. Dora was an Irish mathematician who founded her own company in the 1920s to build a new industry using machine calculation, foreseeing the world-changing potential of data management. She was also a director of the company that supplied bombe machines to the Bletchley Park codebreakers in WW2.
Mary practises as an Osteopath in Edinburgh, where she loves exploring wild Scotland and taking full advantage of the cultural and culinary delights of the city. She was formerly a strategic marketing consultant and began her career with Cadbury’s Confectionery. She was raised on a farm in Shropshire.
