I grew up in Ohio, near Lake Erie. When I entered the fourth grade, I could not write my own name. At that point I had the first teacher who ever understood me (Donald Shinski) and things started to improve. Eventually I would become a graduate of Oklahoma Christian University (B.A.), Abilene Christian University (M.A.) and Concordia Theological Seminary (Ph.D.).
After my first year at University, at the ripe age of 18, I married the finest wife possible. We went on to raise four sons (two adopted, two born to us biologically). We worked together in Africa for 8 years, most of that time in Nigeria and the Kingdom of Eswatini (then known as the Kingdom of Swaziland).
I have served on the staff of Bible colleges in Nigeria, Eswatini, and Canada, and have also been a guest lecturer at schools in Ghana and Zambia. From December of 2004 until March of 2021 we were with the Flanders Road Church in Toledo, Ohio. But now we are back in Eswatini, presumably my last post.
When I want to take a little mental vacation from my work, I take a walk or read something light (Chesterton and Kipling are recent favorites). We do not own a television, and I do not own a "smart phone" (AKA: dumbing device).
