Dr Paul Gaskell is a professional ecologist with a passion for wild places and the people who know how to live within them. His travels to Japan's mountain wilderness areas led to a fascination with traditional foraging practices and the art of living self-sufficiently in harmony with nature.

Paul shares his love of the outdoors with his wife Jo and their two sons through regular weekend walks, along with training Japanese martial arts and taking fishing trips with the boys.
