Tracey McLennan is the author of the book “Canine Aggression: Rehabilitating an aggressive dog with kindness and compassion” which is the story of how Calgacus the Bull Mastiff stopped trying to attack other dogs and learned to love their company. Tracey learned that Tellington TTouch, clicker training, trick training and walks with other dogs along with encouraging Calgacus to direct the pace and direction of his learning were key in helping him get over his problems.
Through working with Calgacus, Tracey developed an enthusiasm for dog training and has participated in classes, workshops and seminars throughout the UK. Tracey has a Bsc(Hons) in Canine Behaviour and Training and is a Tellington TTouch practitioner and full member of the UK TTouch Guild.
Tracey is enthusiastic about sharing good dog training practice and to help with this goal, she created a Facebook page to accompany the book which can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/Canineaggression
Tracey and her dogs have learned about a great many dog sports to varying levels. These include Heelwork to Music, Gundog Training, Working Trials, Kennel Club Good Citizen tests, Agility and most recently Scentwork UK. Tracey has a passion for problem solving and has been lucky enough to share her life with dogs who prove to have challenges in one way or another. Calgacus' issues aside, Tracey has worked to help her dogs through issues due to resource guarding between dogs, high prey drive and separation anxiety.
Tracey is a director and guest speaker for Paws for Progress. She became enthusiastic about the work that the organisation does after doing some voluntary teaching on the courses in Polmont. Tracey also volunteers for the small charity Staffordshire Rescue Scotland.
Tracey is also enthusiastic about teaching people and continues to have a successful career with a global organisation in a professional IT development capacity – a role she has had since 1997. This work involves teaching and mentoring of new staff as well as teaching and assisting system users and designers.
Tracey lives with two true experts in dog learning – her dogs, Cuillin and Roxy.
