Michelle Cirillo

Michelle Cirillo is a Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Delaware. She received her PhD from Iowa State University in 2008 after working as a secondary mathematics teacher in NY for 8 years. Cirillo’s primary research interests include the teaching of disciplinary processes (e.g., mathematical proof and modeling), classroom discourse, and teachers’ use of curriculum materials. To study these ideas, Cirillo has worked on multiple collaborative projects with secondary teachers, where they are viewed as critical partners in the research. Several of her publications about these projects were co-authored with teachers from the projects.
