Dori Marx grew up in Austria and traveled the world extensively before making New England her home. She lives there with her husband and three children, along with an ever-growing family of rescue dogs, horses, goats, chickens, ducks—and a few spiders she has learned to coexist with.
Her popular Wonder World Kids chapter book series is a favorite among readers ages seven to twelve and combines animal adventures with environmental issues, mystery, and a touch of magic. Each story transports young readers to a different part of the world while introducing them to real animals, places, and current environmental challenges. So far, she has taken her readers from palaces in Austria and the mountains of Peru, all the way to the savanna in Kenya and into the wilderness of Patagonia.
Dori conducts extensive research for each book and visits the locations where her stories take place, bringing authentic details and scientific information to life through engaging adventures. She also works with local artists lending their unique talents to the chapter illustrations for each book.
Designed with larger print and short chapters to build reading stamina, confidence, and curiosity, the Wonder World Kids books include a glossary of highlighted words that encourages young readers to explore new vocabulary and topics further.
Dori is available for author visits, book presentations, readings, and signings at schools and libraries. She also offers grade-level worksheets for kindergarten through fourth grade, as well as activities and classroom materials to complement each book.
