Prof Johnson N. Mbugua was born in Kenya in 1944. He attended various schools in Kenya including Kangaru High School, Embu where he was awarded the best student award for Cambridge O' Level School Certificate examination in 1963. He also attended various colleges and professional institution based in UK and Kenya. Additionally, he attended various Universities both in Kenya and South Africa. He attained numerous professional qualifications including FCIS (UK), FCMA (UK), CPA (K), CPS (K), MKIM and Daystar's University certificates in Counseling and also in Conflict Reconciliation. His top-most degrees are MTh cum laude, 2011 (SATS) and PHD (Theology) (SATS 2014). In the course of his career, he observed how people coped with death and the problems they faced. This led him to carry out a research and writing on the mode of coping with death of virtually all African ethnic communities that has taken proportions and turns that are neither cultural, scriptural, nor necessary. This culminated in his book entitled Funeral Rites Reformation for any African Ethnic Community based on the proposed new Funeral practices for the Agikuyu (Wipf and Stock Publishers, 2016) His other works include Mumbi's Brideprice (a novel), Longman (1971) which has been revised severally and the latest version being the fourth edition published by Amazon Publisher, Seattle USA in 2024. This is an English novel based on the Agikuyu pre-Christian, pre- Muslim culture and world view. His other work is Faith of the Agikuyu Christian Martyrs Exploratory study of the faith of the Agikuyu Christian Martyrs who were martyred during the Maumau emergency in Kenya in 1952-1960 and also in 1969. Published by SATs (2011). Recently Professor Mbugua wrote Martyrdom Christian, Kenya chapter 1498 CE to 2020 CE Portuguese, Mau Mau, Alshabaab Related and other Martyrs also Biblical and Early Christian Martyrdom fourth edition published in 2023 by Amazon Publishers Seattle USA. Professor Mbugua is an Academician, Author, Theologian, Anthropologist, Public Speaker, Minister at Large, Preacher, Professional Administrator etc.
