Life Is New All the Time developed as a natural outcome of the way Governor German Velasco has pursued his own life’s journey. Velasco boasts a varied and lengthy biography. He has an Environmental Design degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder and a master’s degree in Urban Planning from Universidad Mayor de San Andres. He launched his career by practicing architecture for seven years in California and in his native La Paz. He then worked as an urban planning consultant for the World Bank before setting his sights on public policy. Once in the public arena, Velasco became passionate about political strategy and also launched into political analysis. Several newspapers in Bolivia publish his planning, public policy and political analysis articles.
While still a young man, Velasco was invited by three different Presidents of Bolivia to occupy important posts. At age 36, he served as Secretary of Housing and Urban Affairs in President Jaime Paz Zamora’s cabinet. Seven years later, President Hugo Banzer invited Velasco to be an advisor. Two years after that, Velasco was appointed Governor of the State of La Paz, the geographically largest and most populated of the nine states in Bolivia. Later, Velasco was invited by President Jorge Quiroga to again serve as a political strategist.
Throughout these years, Velasco remained an entrepreneur in order to support his family. He is the father of three boys and one girl. In time, Velasco and his family made a move back to the United States where he had to reinvent himself again. Nine years ago, he became a court interpreter, then, after becoming a sponsor to the Supreme Court continuing Legal Education Program in Colorado, he moved on to creating and teaching his own cross-cultural seminars to attorneys and judges.
Currently, Velasco is a career and divorce coach, as well as a contractor for the Colorado Judicial Branch in the area of alternative conflict resolution. As a coach, he serves hundreds of clients.
