James was born in Oxford, and now resides on the South Coast. He is the author of EAST END BOYS AND WEST END GIRLS (Spectrum Books), an adult LGBTQ+ road trip comedy. Previously he has released HALF THE WORLD AWAY (SRL Publishing), a semi-epistolary YA novel set during Section 28, and OUT IN GREENWOOD (SRL Publishing).
in 2023, James worked with actor Bradley Riches (Heartstopper, Emmerdale) to adapt Riches’ stage script “A” DIFFERENT KIND OF SUPERPOWER into a novella. The novella centred the topic of autism and was featured in publications such as British Vogue, Gay Times, and Attitude, as well as being discussed on Sunday Brunch.
James was schooled in a non-diverse market town during the Section 28 era, and this has driven his passion for writing novels which centre LGBTQIA+ characters, history, and themes. Outside of writing, he is a keen runner, and supports Oxford United FC. He has appeared on podcasts, local radio, and on panels at events hosted by independent bookstores.
Despite of what some websites occasionally say, he has never written a book on Bedfordshire pub walks, or anything related to Accounting and Law. He detests the use of AI in any part of creating a novel, and is a supporter of independent bookshops.
James is represented by Intersaga Literary Agency Ltd.
