Kathleen Harrison

Hello readers I am Kathleen Harrison born years ago in Gateshead, England, UK. In an earlier life I was in Admin and Finance. I left school at 15 with no qualifications because back then in 1950s England qualifications were only earned if a child went to what is called a Grammar School. I have even stacked shelves in a supermarket.

During a midlife crisis I went to the Open University to see if I could gain qualifications. I did and it took 6 years. I then went to an ordinary University to train as an Information Communications Technology (ICT) teacher. I gained a First-class Honours Degree and became a teacher of Information Technology. I did all of this in my 40 and 50s.

I am now retired and started writing after retiring and following major surgery to remove a Pituitary Tumour (Brain Tumour). I wrote and self - published my first book. "Living Life in Ruby Slippers" both paperback and kindle versions. (age 67) Living Life in Ruby Slippers tells my story. I will be updating this story soon.

My second book is a local history book of my "Memories of Gateshead". Gateshead is where I grew up in the 1950s. This has been a great way to recall my childhood memories of my upbringing up to the age of about 12 years old. I now have a series of children’s books called "Magic Mat":

2. Cousins' Time Travel Adventures.

3. Cousins' Awesome Adventures.

These stories are for 5- to 8-year-olds. They were written for my four grandchildren of which each of them has contributed and helped with editing these stories. My oldest grandson Tyler now 12 is my co-author and the narrator of the stories. My 7 year old grandson Bude is coming up behind him and has some great ideas to write about. These are Amazon publications both paperback and Kindle because I want children who might be either blind or partially sighted to be able to listen to the story.

If you want to write, or do anything else, go for it. Age has no barrier only us, with self-doubt.
