Andy Harvey's journey in leadership spans both the military and law enforcement. A decorated veteran, Harvey culminated his military career as the First Sergeant of the 136th Mission Support Group in Ft. Worth, Texas, boasting over two decades of dedicated service. His mettle was tested in the crucible of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he deployed with unwavering resolve, and during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, where he led with resilience during the crisis in New Orleans.
Throughout his military tenure, Harvey's commitment to excellence led him to prestigious academies, including the Non-Commissioned Officer Academy at McGhee Tyson Air Base and the First Sergeant Academy at Maxwell Air Force Base. His exceptional leadership earned him the Distinguished Graduate Award and the revered Commandant’s Leadership Award, respectively.
Retiring from the Dallas Police Department, he ascended to the role of Chief of Police in Palestine, Texas, and later in Pharr, Texas. His multifaceted leadership within the Dallas Police Department included commanding patrol, investigations, community relations, and media relations. As a Patrol Watch Commander, Harvey instituted an innovative policing model, prioritizing teamwork, problem-solving, exceptional customer service, and cultivating a heightened sense of responsibility. His emphasis on critical thinking skills transformed his team into a dynamic force.
Education has been a cornerstone of Harvey's journey, graduating from the University of North Texas with a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Further honing his leadership acumen, he completed programs at the prestigious Senior Management Institute of Police (SMIP), Leadership Command College in Huntsville, the Caruth Police Institute in Dallas, and the ILEA Police School of Supervision in Plano, Texas.
