Fred Beck

Fred Beck, author of "When God Works Incognito'' (Autobiographical Vignettes) worked his way through High School, University and Graduate School by working in such varied jobs as: assisting his father in carpentry, movie usher, waiter in café, light meter reader, laying rail for a railroad, fabrication department building space satellites, and prison guard.

He served as pastor of three churches in Texas and California. Then along with his wife, Linda served as a field missionary in Indonesia and India, through the International Mission Board, for thirty-three years.

As field missionaries for twenty years, the Becks evangelized, made disciples of new believers, started new congregations and trained local leaders, for those new congregations.

Their final thirteen years overseas were centered in non-formal pastor leadership training and in administering missionary work across the entire Indian Sub-Continent.

Since retirement, the Becks have been deeply involved in volunteer ministries in and through their local congregation; English as Second Language, Adult Reading and Writing, Adult Job Corps, Bible study leaders, etc. They also worked as volunteer election officials for seven years.

The Becks have four adult children, eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and counting.

Although Beck's book focuses on his personal life, struggles and successes; its under lying theme is the faithfulness of God, who works both directly and incognito, in the affairs of those who love and obey Him.
