I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and love this city recognized for its toughness. I like to think it helped shape me into who I am today. You can't help but feel a part of it when you live here. I wonder how many unassuming quiet people passed through that impacted lives here. Not just the famous, or the sports legends. I know a few that turned an era into the history of one town. A quiet town that could have been anywhere in the USA. If you survived the sixties, touchdown in the seventies was a hard landing for some. We went our own ways. I think we are all threaded through the same needle and have had similar experiences. Some crazy and wild, dangerous or even deadly. I have no regrets.
For over 30 years I have worked in long-term care. I've seen what Dementia, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's does to the mind and body first hand. Some people live with eyes closed to most of the sadness that surrounds them. I hide in books, always have. I love to read. It gives my mind respite from the harsh reality of work.
I also think most people end up where they should be to do the most good. You just need to follow your heart. I find warmth and compassion on pages filled with interpretations of others, not so average lives. I love the way a great author can take me to another land, another life and keep me in suspense to deliver a happily ever after. All our stories should be told but listen carefully too...that is the purest form of communication. Wonder if there is any truth to it? Fact or fiction? It's all subjective in my opinion. I write fiction. Write whatever you want and enjoy the ride I say. Someday you might not be able to complete a single thought. I was told I am a good storyteller. I am not an author, I may never be a good author but I like to write--so go with that. I like writing. That is all. In my world, I find little, if anything at all to like anymore. I do like the "happily ever after" endings. They give us hope. We don't see enough of them in real life. I like the creative process that keeps my mind entertained and makes all the hard work worth it. Hopefully, you will be entertained too. You can visit--http://www.diaryofadeadhusband.com
